Kate Pickett - Director
Kate is the Site Supervisor at Mahmowenchike Family Development Centre where she has enhanced and promoted the Indigenous culture within the organization by creating community partnerships. Kate is an Early Childhood Educator, working in the childcare sector for 10 years.
Kate is interested in children’s development and the benefits of incorporating the natural world in children’s everyday lives. Showing vast passion for land-based learning, risk play and attachment-based theory in childcare.
Kate has also worked with neurodiverse people of all ages teaching social skills, providing transportation, and support to get out and enjoy community events for 8+ years.
Kate has begun work in the AA (Alcoholic Anonymous) world; running youth and LBGTQ2+ inclusive meetings. She has spent time volunteering within the city at the Shelter House and with the LGBTQ2+ community, bringing in experience and perspective from those communities.
